In this translation, he expresses the beautiful resonance of Chuya’s words, and the sense of rhythm deriving from the repetition of five and seven syllable units, through the use of English rhyme and the repetition of similarly pronounced words… Because rhythm is so important to Chûya’s poetry, this must have been quite an undertaking. It is truly wonderful.
